Sculptures by Pietro Consagra: Giallo Mori and Nembro Rosato

After a restoration that lasted about two months, double-front sculptures by Pietro Consagra were returned to the city, "Yellow Mori" and "Nembro Rosato", located at the end of Via dei Mercanti towards Piazza Duomo.
The project was made possible thanks to a donation from a private individual. The sculptures in Milan are a real open-air cultural heritage that reveals itself in the squares and parks.
The works, dated 1977 and donated to the City of Milan by the artist, named as the marble in which they are made. The restoration was necessary to clean up the marbles and restore some damaged parts.
To prevent further injury and consolidate the intervention, it was predicted a final treatment with microcrystalline waxes and anti-graffiti intended to protect the surfaces over time.
The works of Consagra are preserved in major museums around the world including: the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery in Washington, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, the Musée d'Art Moderne Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires.

Dopo un restauro durato circa due mesi, sono state restituite alla città le sculture bifrontali di Pietro Consagra, “Giallo Mori” e “Nembro Rosato”, situate alla fine di via Dei Mercanti verso piazza Duomo.

L’intervento è stato reso possibile grazie alla donazione di un privato. Le sculture di Milano sono un vero e proprio patrimonio culturale a cielo aperto che si svela nelle piazze e nei parchi cittadini.

Le opere, datate 1977 e donate al Comune di Milano dallo stesso artista, prendono il nome dai marmi in cui sono realizzate. L’intervento di restauro si è reso necessario per ripulire i marmi e per ripristinare alcune parti danneggiate.

Per evitare nuove lesioni e consolidare l’intervento, è stato previsto un trattamento finale con cere microcristalline e antigraffiti destinate a proteggere nel tempo le superfici.

Le opere di Consagra sono conservate nei maggiori musei internazionali tra cui: il Museum of Modern Art di New York, la National Gallery di Washington, l’Ermitage di San Pietroburgo, la Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna di Roma, il Musée d’Art Moderne Centre Georges Pompidou di Parigi, il Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes di Buenos Aires.
