Two heroes help a victim

On Thursday morning, while a girl was walking along Via Esterle, near via Padova in Milan, was attacked from behind by a man who had just got off the bus. The mugger then ran away with the victim's cell phone.
Fortunately, at that moment, two young men saw everything and rushed to her aid. One of them helped the girl and he called 118, while the other was putting on the trail of the criminal. Once reached, the criminal was forced to drop the loot.
The cell, therefore, was back in the hands of the owner, who was transported to San Raffaele Hospital. In some way, justice has been done thanks to the two guys: unknown heroes, like the other honest citizens in subway.
What would you have done if you were them? Would you have helped a perfect stranger to get back his/her phone?

Giovedì mattina una ragazza mentre camminava lungo via Esterle, zona via Padova, a Milano è stata aggredita alle spalle da un uomo appena scesa dall'autobus. L'aggressore è poi fuggito con il cellulare della vittima.
Fortunatamente in quel momento due giovani hanno visto tutto e sono corsi in suo aiuto. Uno dei due soccorrendo la ragazza ha  chiamato il 118, mentre l'altro si è immediatamente messo sulle tracce del malvivente. Una volta raggiunto, è nata una colluttazione che alla fine ha costretto il balordo a mollare la refurtiva.
Il cellulare, dunque, è tornato nella mani della legittima proprietaria, la quale è stata trasportata al San Raffaele per degli accertamenti. In qualche modo, giustizia è stata fatta grazie ai due passanti: sconosciuti eroi, come quella volta altri onesti cittadini in metropolitana.
Cosa avreste fatto al loro posto? Avreste aiutato un/a perfetto/a sconosciuto/a a recuperare il cellulare?

Murder in Brera - Milano

Giovanni Veronesi was the victim of a robbery, without witnesses. They killed him in his jewelery where he has been working for over 40 years, in Brera.
The police believe he was attacked by bandits who got into the store with the intention to rob, and they struck the owner in the head with a blunt object and then run away with some jewelry.
The attack could have occurred between 11:30 am and noon yesterday 21st of March 2013. The wife and daughter of the victim called an ambulance. When rescue workers arrived, they found the man in a pool of blood. Attempts to revive him were futile, and he died before he was transported to the hospital.
The street traders said that lately this area is frequented by bandits, thieves and troublemakers. And they complain about the fact that they are abandoned by the institutions and by the police.
I'd like to underline that since September 2012 there have been 10 shootings and five deaths in Milan. Are we in the far west?

Giovanni Veronesi è rimasto vittima di una rapina, senza testimoni. Lo hanno ucciso nella gioielleria che da oltre 40 anni porta il suo nome, a Brera.
I Carabinieri ritengono che sia stato aggredito da alcuni banditi entrati nel negozio con l'intenzione di svaligiare il negozio, e presi dal panico hanno colpito il proprietario alla testa con un oggetto contundente per poi scappare con qualche gioiello.
L'aggressione potrebbe essere avvenuta tra le 11,30 e mezzogiorno di ieri, 21 marzo 2013. A chiamare l'ambulanza sono state la figlia e la moglie della vittima. Quando i soccorritori sono arrivati hanno trovato l'uomo in un lago di sangue, con una profonda ferita alla testa. I tentativi di rianimarlo sono stati inutili, è morto prima del trasporto in ospedale.
I commercianti della via sostengono che da un pò di tempo questa zona è frequentata dai banditi, disturbatori e malintenzionati. E si lamentano per il fatto che sono abbandonati dalle istituzioni e dalle forze dell'ordine.
Bisogna anche sottolineare che dal settembre 2012 ci sono state 10 sparatorie e cinque morti a Milano. Siamo a far west?

UniCredit Tower in Milan

Today's post is a continuation of yesterday's one :)
Who of you have already seen the UniCredit Tower in Milan?
On the occasion of FAI Spring (Sunday, 24 March from 10.00am to 5.00pm) the tallest building in Italy will be open to the public for the first time: you will have the opportunity to get in the main tower of UniCredit Tower. With its 232 meters, it promises a unique view of the city of Milan.
Not only historical buildings, but also the jewel of modern architecture will be open for us.
UniCredit Tower, consists of three buildings designed by the U.S. firm Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, and  it is located in Porta Nuova.
The tower, whose top is accessible by elevator in 40 seconds, is twice high as the cathedral of Milan (Duomo).
The three buildings received by the U.S. Green Building Council the LEED Gold certification thanks to energy saving, reduction of use of potable water in buildings, reuse of rainwater and recycling of construction waste.
The complex will be the new headquarters of UniCredit Group and will host 4,000 employees allowing reduction of five times the number of offices in Milan with an annual saving on real estate costs of about 25 million euro. WOW!

Chi di voi ha già visto la UniCredit Tower a Milano? Immagino molti di voi (parlo ovviamente dei residenti di Milano).
In occasione della Giornata FAI di Primavera (domenica 24 marzo dalle 10,00 alle 17,00) apre per la prima volta al pubblico il palazzo più alto d'Italia: avrete la possibilità di salire nella torre maggiore di UniCredit Tower che con i suoi 232 metri promette uno spettacolo unico della città di Milano.
Non solo palazzi storici quindi, ma anche il gioiello della più moderna architettura.
UniCredit Tower, è composto da tre edifici progettati dallo studio statunitense Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, si trova nel quartiere di Porta Nuova.
La torre, la cui sommità è raggiungibile in ascensore in 40 secondi, è alta due volte il Duomo di Milano.
I tre edifici, alti rispettivamente 232 metri (31 piani), 100 metri (21 piani), e 50 metri (11 piani), hanno ricevuto dall'US Green Building Council la certificazione di LEED Gold grazie a: risparmio energetico, riduzione dell'utilizzo di acqua potabile negli edifici, riutilizzo di acqua piovana e riciclo dei rifiuti da cantiere.
Il complesso sarà il nuovo Quartier Generale del Gruppo UniCredit e accoglierà  4.000 dipendenti consentendo di ridurre di cinque volte il numero di sedi a Milano con un risparmio annuo sui costi immobiliari di circa 25 milioni di euro.

Giornate FAI a Milano

How many times do we out running from house to go to work or university?

For once, why don't we leave the house for a special event, which may involve the heart and mind?

For the XXI day of FAI (Italian Environment Fund) of spring, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March 2013, there are many opportunities to enjoy the beauty of Milan: many palace, monuments, museums, churches and castles will be open to the public.

Relive many different stories that tell our story, through works of art, gorgeous surroundings and places seemingly familiar.

This year the FAI opens 700 locations across Italy, often inaccessible and for the occasion exceptionally available to the public, with visits (free contribution): churches, palaces, archeological sites, villas, vilages, gardens, even barracks, hydroelectric plant and astronomical observatory.

So why don't you take advantage of it?

Human fetus @ University of Bicocca

Yesterday afternoon, some Bicocca University reseachers have done a terrible discovery in a refrigerating room of the of the Faculty of Biotechnology: a human fetus.
According to the police report, the call to 113 was made after the lunch hour, at 1,35pm. A manager has confirmed that the presence of the fetus in that area is absolutely unjustifiable.
On-site there were the members of the forensic department. And a coroner was working to carry out the necessary analyzes.
Meanwhile, Angelo Vescovi, the head of the research center, think about a possible sabotage. Vescovi is in fact engaged (not Bicocca) in researching the use of stem cells to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (sla). And Marcello Fontanesi, rector of the university, said that if after the internal investigation someone on the staff will be responsible, "will never set foot in Bicocca."
Researchers and scientists of biotechnology are embittered the day after the discovery of the human fetus. According to the young researchers, recently there have done some works for the maintenance in the floor where the "incriminated" fridge is placed.
Those who work are now worried for their jobs and the daily work. "But there are strict rules that we respect," they say.

Ieri pomeriggio, una terribile scoperta quella che alcuni ricercatori dell'università Bicocca hanno fatto dentro una cella frigorifera in uno stabile della facoltà di Biotecnologie: un feto umano.
Secondo quando riferito dalla questura, la chiamata al 113 è avvenuta poco dopo l'ora di pranzo, alle 13.35. Un responsabile della struttura ha poi confermato che la presenza del feto in quell'area è assolutamente ingiustificabile.
Sul posto sono in corso i rilievi della polizia scientifica. Già nel pomeriggio di ieri, un medico legale si è messo a lavoro per effettuare le analisi necessarie.
Intanto Angelo Vescovi, il responsabile del centro di ricerca, ha parlato di possibile sabotaggio. Vescovi è infatti impegnato (non in Bicocca) in ricerche sull'uso di cellule staminali per curare la sclerosi laterale amiotrofica (sla). E Marcello Fontanesi, rettore dell'ateneo, ha affermato che, se in seguito all'indagine interna qualcuno del personale risulterà responsabile, "non metterà mai più piede in Bicocca".
Ricercatori e scienziati di biotecnologie alla Bicocca sono amareggiati il giorno dopo il ritrovamento del feto umano. Secondo i giovani ricercatori di recente sono stati eseguiti lavori di manutenzione nel piano in cui si trova il frigorifero "incriminato".
Chi opera al terzo piano dell'U3 teme adesso che venga screditato il lavoro quotidiano. "Ma ci sono regole precise, che rispettiamo", dicono.

Accident in Viale Bianca Maria

A few minutes ago, at about 11.20 pm, a man at the wheel, probably because of the bad weather (snow), skidded with his car and ended up against several traffic bollards placed on the sidewalk in Viale Bianca Maria in Milan. Some of these traffic bollards cracked to pieces. The victim has confessed to the policemen that has swerved the car. On-site there were an ambulance and the local police who have brought quickly to restore circulation. Fortunately, the man has not done anything.

Pochi minuti fa, verso le 23.20, un uomo al volante, probabilmente anche a causa del mal tempo delle ultime ore (neve), è sbandato ed è finito contro diversi dissuasori stradali posti sul marciapiede in viale Bianca Maria a Milano. Alcuni di questi "panettoni" sono letteralmente andati a pezzi. Il malcapitato ha confessato ai vigili che ha sbandato l'auto. Sul posto sono accorsi un'ambulanza e la polizia locale che hanno provveduto rapidamente a ristabilire la circolazione. Fortunatamente l'uomo non si è fatto niente.

Sunday by foot is halved

Hi sweeties,
I want to let you know that the Municipality of Milan has decided to reduce the time slot of the traffic block scheduled for tomorrow. The decision was made after the release of the latest weather forecasts which confirm rainfall and even snow with a deterioration in the afternoon. Stop for the cars will be  from 10 am to 2pm instead of 10am to 6pm.
The electric cars, car sharing, emergency transport can circulate in the morning . And they have already planned upgrading of public transport.
Finally, I remind you that all the initiatives promoted by the DomenicAspasso are confirmed. These include: free entrance to museums and civic pools of Milanosport throughout the day; Atm tickets valid all day to get around by tram, bus and metro, you may bring your dog on public transportation without paying the ticket. And again: free day pass to BikeMi, games and entertainment for children at Palazzo Marino, the opening of the new Civic Arena Appiani newly restored room, guided tours of the Touring Club, the "Stramuseo."

Ciao a tutti,
volevo avvisarvi che il Comune di Milano ha deciso di ridurre la fascia oraria del blocco della circolazione previsto per domani. La decisione è stata presa dopo la diffusione delle ultime previsioni del tempo che confermano pioggia e addirittura neve con un peggioramento nel pomeriggio. Lo stop alle auto sarà in vigore dalle ore 10 alle ore 14 anzichè dalle 10 alle 18.
Potranno comunque circolare anche in mattinata le auto elettriche, quelle del car sharing. E' previsto il potenziamento dei mezzi pubblici.
Infine vi ricordo che tutte le iniziative promosse per la DomenicAspasso sono confermate. Tra queste: ingresso gratuito ai musei civici e alle piscine di Milanosport per tutta la giornata; biglietto Atm valido tutto il giorno per muoversi con tram, autobus e metrò, possibilità di portare sui mezzi pubblici il proprio cane senza pagare il biglietto. E ancora: abbonamento giornaliero gratuito a BikeMi, giochi e animazioni per bambini a Palazzo Marino, inaugurazione all'Arena civica della nuova Sala Appiani appena restaurata, visite guidate del Touring Club, la "Stramuseo".
